Chase Sapphire Reserve Marriott Gold Status and Two Free Nights

The status: three months of Marriott Gold

For a limited time, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can register for three months of complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. Registration closes on September 30, 2026. Gold gets you 25% bonus points on paid stays, plus a room upgrade and 2pm late checkout when the hotel has them.

The status is the small part of this. What made us write it up is what showed up in our Marriott account after we registered.

The targeted offer: two free nights after two stays

After registering, our Marriott Bonvoy app showed an offer called Exclusively for You: Earn up to Two Free Night Awards. Three friends of ours who also carry the Reserve and registered for Gold have the same offer. The terms:

• Your first eligible paid stay earns one Free Night Award worth up to 35,000 points.
• Your second eligible paid stay earns a second one. That is the maximum: two free nights.
• A stay is one or more nights at any Marriott hotel, and the stays must be completed by November 30, 2026.

Two paid stays of a single night each could earn you two nights at hotels costing up to 35,000 points a night, and Marriott lets you top a free night certificate up with extra points for a pricier hotel. For two people who would rather stay home, that is exactly the kind of deal that gets us out the door.

It is a targeted offer: Marriott chooses who gets it, and not every Gold member will. Registering for the status is the only way we know of to be in the running.

How to register, step by step

1. Open the Chase app and go to the Benefits & travel tab.
2. Tap See all benefits and scroll down to Experience Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status.
3. Register with your Marriott Bonvoy number. Chase confirms that you have requested registration; the status then appears on your Marriott account.
4. Check for the free-night offer. In the Marriott Bonvoy app, open the Account tab and look under Promotions and Offers. If you were targeted, it shows as Earn up to Two Free Night Awards with a 0 of 2 stays tracker.

Keep Gold until 2028

The three months are a trial. If you complete three eligible paid nights before they run out, Marriott extends your Gold status through February 2028. Two short stays for the free-night offer can get you most of the way there.

Book directly with Marriott, not Chase Travel

This is the part that trips people up. Only paid nights booked directly with Marriott count toward keeping Gold; award nights and bookings through other sites, including Chase Travel, do not. The free-night offer counts eligible paid stays too, so book these stays on Marriott’s own site or app.

That makes this a separate play from The Edit. There are more than 200 Marriott hotels on the Edit list, but an Edit booking goes through Chase Travel, so it earns your $250 Edit credit and breakfast rather than Marriott status or these free nights. Use The Edit for the bigger, credit-covered stays, and a couple of simple direct Marriott nights for this offer.
