Key takeaways

  • The annual fee is $795. Authorized users cost $195 each and share the primary cardholder’s credits.
  • The big four: $500 in Edit hotel credits (two $250, usable any time in 2026), the $300 travel credit, $300 for dining at Exclusive Tables and $300 on StubHub and viagogo.
  • The one-off 2026 select-hotel credit adds $250 and expires on December 31, 2026. At 177 hotels it stacks with an Edit credit for $500 off one stay.
  • StubHub, DoorDash, Apple and Peloton need activating, and Lyft needs the card saved in its app. The travel, Edit, select-hotel and dining credits are automatic.
  • Dining and StubHub still reset every six months: use each $150 by June 30 and by December 31.
  • Points earn 8x on Chase Travel and 3x on dining, and are worth 1 cent each in Chase Travel, up to 2 cents with Points Boost, or transfer 1:1 to 14 airline and hotel programs.

The credits at a glance

The refreshed Sapphire Reserve costs $795 a year, and each authorized user adds $195. In return it carries about $2,500 a year in credits on paper in 2026, but they are spread across a dozen programs with different reset dates, and several do nothing until you switch them on. This is the whole list:

Face value is not the same as value to you. The travel, Edit and dining credits are easy to use in full if you travel at all; the lifestyle credits are only worth something if you already pay for those services.

The Edit hotel credits: $500 a year

The largest credit on the card is two separate $250 statement credits each calendar year for prepaid stays of two nights or more at hotels in The Edit, Chase’s luxury hotel collection, booked through Chase Travel. Since January 1, 2026, both credits can be used at any point in the year; the old rule that tied one to each half of the year is gone. You cannot put both credits on a single booking, but two separate stays, even back to back, each take one.

The credit arrives as a statement credit after the prepaid charge posts, usually within a few days, though Chase allows a billing cycle or two. Cancel or change the booking and Chase can take the credit back. The credit refunds the card charge, so a stay paid only with points does not get it; put at least $250 on the card and pay the rest with points.

The Sapphire Reserve for Business carries an Edit credit and the 2026 select-hotel credit as well. Chase has announced that from January 1, 2027 the business card’s Edit credit doubles to $1,000 a year, paid as four $250 credits for stays of two nights or more. No such change has been announced for the personal card.

Every Edit booking also comes with on-property benefits: daily breakfast for two, a $100 property credit per booking, free Wi-Fi, a welcome amenity, a room upgrade when available, and early check-in and late checkout when available. On our two nights at the Kimpton Canary in Santa Barbara, the upgrade, early check-in and late checkout all came through, and the property credit went on valet parking.

On a two-night stay, the $250 credit and the $100 property credit alone are worth $350, before the breakfasts. If you also carry the Amex Platinum, see how The Edit compares with Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts.

The benefits are set hotel by hotel, though, so read the list on each hotel’s Chase Travel page. Most MGM hotels in Las Vegas, for example, give a $100 dining credit and no breakfast; see The Edit in Las Vegas.

Chase does not publish a count of Edit hotels. Our Edit hotel list tracks 1,536 on its latest check, each with a typical nightly Chase Travel rate, and every hotel has its own page with the month-by-month pattern. The Edit Maximizer ranks them by how much of a stay the credit covers.

The 2026 select-hotel credit: another $250

For 2026 only, the card adds up to $250 toward prepaid Chase Travel stays of two nights or more at seven hotel groups: IHG, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin Hotels, Minor Hotels and Pan Pacific. It covers purchases made from January 1 to December 31, 2026, and it expires with the year, so an unused select-hotel credit is gone on January 1.

The useful part is the overlap. 177 hotels on our list belong to both programs, and at those the select-hotel credit stacks with an Edit credit on the same booking: up to $500 off one two-night stay, plus the Edit benefits. The double credit hotels page lists every one. Chase’s terms describe the $250 as a maximum total for the year, which suggests it can be split across bookings, but some sources call it one-time, so plan on using it in one stay.

The $300 travel credit

The travel credit is the easiest $300 on the card. It applies automatically to almost anything coded as travel: airlines, hotels and motels, timeshares, car rentals, cruise lines, travel agencies and discount travel sites, campgrounds, trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, tolls and parking. Everyday rides and parking eat through it without any planning.

It resets on your account anniversary, not on January 1. If your card anniversary falls in, say, March, the credit runs March to March, so check your own cycle before counting on it twice in the same calendar year.

Dining and StubHub: the two half-year credits

Two credits still run on a January–June and July–December schedule, $150 each half, and unused money in either half is lost:

  • Dining, up to $300 a year, at Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables restaurants on OpenTable. It applies automatically when you pay with the card at a participating restaurant; you do not have to book through OpenTable. The collection is roughly 400 restaurants across the US; our tracked copy has 436. How the dining credit works.
  • StubHub and viagogo, up to $300 a year, for tickets bought directly on either site or app, fees included. It needs a one-time activation and runs through December 31, 2027. How the StubHub credit works.

The lifestyle credits

Four credits pay for services rather than travel. They are worth their face value only if you would pay for the service anyway:

  • DoorDash, up to $300 a year. Each month brings $25 in promos: $5 off a restaurant order and two $10 promos for non-restaurant orders such as groceries or retail. You also get a complimentary DashPass membership, a $120 value, if you activate it by December 31, 2027. The promos run through the end of 2027.
  • Lyft, up to $120 a year. A $10 in-app credit each month through September 30, 2027. It is a discount in the Lyft app rather than a statement credit, it only works once the Sapphire Reserve is saved as a payment method in Lyft, and unused credit expires at the end of each month.
  • Peloton, up to $120 a year. $10 a month toward a Peloton membership through December 31, 2027. It needs activation, despite what some lists say.
  • Apple TV+ and Apple Music. Complimentary subscriptions that Chase values at $288 a year. Each service is activated separately, by June 22, 2027.

Points: earning and redeeming

The Reserve earns Ultimate Rewards points at these rates:

Where you spendPoints per dollar
Chase Travel, including The Edit8x
Flights and hotels booked directly4x
Dining worldwide3x
Lyft, through September 30, 20275x
Peloton equipment and accessories over $150, through 202710x
Everything else1x

Redemption changed with the 2025 refresh. Points are now worth 1 cent each toward Chase Travel bookings, and rotating Points Boost offers push select flights and hotels up to 2 cents. The old flat 1.5 cents survives only for accounts opened before June 23, 2025, on points earned before October 26, 2025, and only until October 26, 2027.

The other route is transferring points 1:1 to Chase’s partners: ten airline programs (Aer Lingus, Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways, Air France–KLM Flying Blue, Iberia, JetBlue, Singapore Airlines, Southwest, United and Virgin Atlantic) and four hotel programs (World of Hyatt, IHG, Marriott and Wyndham, added in February 2026).

Lounges and elite status

Airport lounge access comes in three parts. Priority Pass Select opens its network of independent lounges, and Chase’s own Sapphire Lounges are open to you on top of that. Since August 15, 2026, Sapphire Lounges are no longer part of the Priority Pass network, but Sapphire Reserve cardholders keep unlimited access; on a connecting trip you can now enter up to five hours before the onward flight.

You can bring two guests free at both, then $27 per extra guest, with children under two free. When you fly Star Alliance, Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges also let you in with one guest.

Until September 30, 2026, cardholders can also register for three months of Marriott Bonvoy Gold status, which has led to a targeted two-free-nights offer for some members; see Marriott Gold and two free nights.

The card also carries IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status through 2027, once you link your IHG account on chase.com. Spend $75,000 on the card in a calendar year and a second tier unlocks, for the rest of that year and the next:

  • IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite
  • World of Hyatt Explorist
  • Southwest A-List, plus a $500 credit for Southwest flights booked through Chase Travel
  • A $250 credit for The Shops at Chase

Is the $795 fee worth it?

Count only what you would have spent anyway. Most travelers use the $300 travel credit without thinking about it, which takes the effective fee to $495. Two Edit stays a year, each two nights or more, use the $500 in Edit credits and bring breakfast and a property credit along with them; that alone clears the rest of the fee. One Exclusive Tables dinner and one StubHub order in each half of the year add up to $600 more.

The card punishes neglect and rewards planning: miss the activations and the half-year deadlines and it becomes an expensive card with lounge access. Plan a trip or two around the credits and it pays for itself several times over. That is what the trip planner and the Edit Maximizer are for.

Questions

Do the Edit credits still reset every six months?

No. Since January 1, 2026, the two $250 Edit credits can be used at any time during the calendar year, on two separate prepaid stays of two nights or more.

Can I combine both Edit credits on one booking?

No. Each Edit credit applies to a separate stay. What you can stack on one stay is an Edit credit and the 2026 select-hotel credit, at the 177 hotels that belong to both programs.

Which Sapphire Reserve credits need activation?

StubHub, DoorDash (and DashPass), Apple TV+ and Apple Music, and Peloton all need activating in your Chase account, and the Lyft credit needs the card saved in the Lyft app. The travel, Edit, select-hotel, dining and Global Entry credits are automatic.

Do authorized users get their own credits?

No. Authorized users cost $195 each and share the primary account’s credits, though their purchases can trigger them. They do get their own Priority Pass and Sapphire Lounge access.

When does the $300 travel credit reset?

On your account anniversary each year, not on January 1.

Is the Sapphire Reserve still worth it at $795?

If you use the travel credit and take two Edit stays of two nights or more a year, the credits alone cover the fee. The rest of the value depends on using the half-year dining and StubHub credits and on whether you already pay for the lifestyle services.
